The client: Matter & Light Fine Art, a South End-based newcomer to the Boston art scene, would benefit from a high-profile event that would bring new audiences to the gallery and position it as an innovative player in a traditional industry.
The project:
The first step was conceiving an artistic collaboration with Company One Theatre’s artistic director.
The project transformed Matter & Light Fine Art into a theater for the six-week run of Jackie Sibblies Drury’s play, Really. Anastasya managed the project for Matter & Light, curated the photography accompanying the photography-themed play, developed and wrote promotional materials, and worked with the cross-disciplinary team to design the audience experience.
Together, the play and the exhibition explored the playwright’s questions of how well art can really capture reality – and how well we really know the people we love.
You can read Anastasya’s thoughts on the project in Art in the Age of Trump: Reflections on the “Really” Collaboration.

A SoWa gallery becomes a theater.
The event was covered by The Boston Globe, Art New England, WBUR’s The ARTery, Improper Bostonian, and many other news outlets.
